Homemade Valentine cards
Homemade cards are an ideal preschool craft: they support early development skills and provide a lovely kid-made gift for kids to share with teachers or family and friends.
Keep the activity open-ended, with lots of opportunity for kids to make shapes and designs on their cards. Every card will be unique, depending on each child's skill level and imagination.
The results will be more amazing and personal if they are not all alike. Kids will love making one for everyone!
Supplies for homemade cards
- Chair foam or sponge
- Foam tray
Cut heart shapes from the chair foam. You can make the sponge stamps in different sizes if preferred.
Instructions for homemade cards
- Fold a sheet of cardstock in half. Pour red paint into a recycled foam tray.
- Press heart shapes firmly into paint and then onto the paper.
- Add glitter to wet paint, or bows when dry, to decorate the cards.
- Kids can sign their names or make drawings with crayons inside the cards.
Kids can practice stamping onto plain paper before actually making cards to see how their designs will look.
